In the Ohio private university where I work, we got panic buttons last year. Better than nothing, and suitable for most situations we're likely to encounter. But our gun-free-ness (thanks, Gov. Daft and legislature) is posted on the door, and we had a shooting across the street several years back. And I'm generally within sight of the door, unarmed.

Heck, I don't know what people find wrong with this attitude and recommended course of action. If someone were kicking in my door -- whether it be criminal elements, psychotics or jack booted gestapo agents (but I repeat myself), the first thing I'll do is press one of my many panic buttons I have strategically located...I have panic buttons on the face of the triggers of each of my guns.
